The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is a special force in the Indian Armed Forces. The specialized forces were created under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, to respond to a disaster as quickly and efficiently as possible. The NDRF can respond by air, ground and communications, among other means. The force was established to help the Indian government recover from a major crisis or natural disaster. The NDRF is divided into battalions. Each battalion has a special mission. The NDRF is responsible for ensuring that the country’s people are safe in a disaster. It has four battalions.
